It is another hot day in early August in KCMO. I turned off the AC earlier this morning and opened the windows up because I love summer air. But, I just went out and sat outside with Yoshi for his afternoon sun bath and it is too hot out again especially when you live on the 3rd floor of an older building with mostly western facing windows. Honestly, if it was just myself living here, I would have left the windows open and let it get hot in here. There are ceiling fans in both rooms. However, N. is @ work somewhere where it is hot.  He works hard and sweats a lot. It's not fair to him to be so selfish.  As I walk around this neighborhood with Yoshi, I am always looking for pretty flowers. Roses should start blooming in earnest soon.  Hot, sunny August into hot, early September is prime time for them. As it is, it has been so hot and dry that most lawns are pale green and crispy. When I walked on one the other day, I looked down and saw a crack in the gray earth that holds...

It's a hot early August day in KCMO. There's a reason I was born a Leo in August. Well, maybe, there are more reasons but the main one is August sun and heat are alive in my soul like no other weather throughout the year.  If I was a lioness, this would be perfect basking weather. As it is, the closest I get to basking is taking Yoshi out to sit in the 90+ degree sunshine. I bask vicariously as sunlight is so aging for the skin. Considering he has black fur, he lasts a long time before he gets up and looks at me with his tongue hanging out and we go back inside.
