Another Walk with Yoshi

I took Yoshi for a nice walk earlier. It is relatively nice out as long as the wind isn't blowing and you're not on the shady side of the street. Today, I did not see any Pileated Woodpeckers but I saw a lot of male Robins. Yoshi wasn't interested in them today. Some days, he will decide to race off after one. He did that recently. I didn't have a very tight grip on his leash when, all of a sudden, he darted after a Robin and he took off with his leash trailing after him. This could be a problem in this neighborhood because cars drive too fast through it and I wouldn't want him to run into the road after a bird or, his other favorite quarry, a squirrel.
I didn't see Jon today either but I did see a younger guy in a blue polo shirt walking a black Pomeranian. I've been thinking a lot lately on my walks with Yoshi and otherwise about what my younger self would say to me if she could see me (her) now. It fills me with almost overwhelming sadness.  Regret might be hard to process. We did not see any of Yoshi's friends today and, before he even led me on a walk, he did some sunbathing in front of our building. The warm Sun did feel good. I sat on the step while he laid on his side so the sun could thoroughly bake his little body. When, he was done cooking himself, he stood up and headed East on the sidewalk. That was my clue to stand up and join him so our walk could commence.
