May 19th Power Walk with Yoshi
Today, when I took Yoshi out for a walk around noon, I was ready for anything he might want to do. By this, I mean I had my contacts in and I was wearing clothes instead of pajamas. I like him to have at least one good walk a day and, when the weather is right, he lets me know and we head out on a Chihuahua version of a Power Walk. He smells everything and the walks take forever but I happily indulge my sweet little dog. Today, he went for what my son and I call the "Washington Route". It's a long walk for a small, aging dog and he even chased a squirrel. When he's loving life, his ears are up and he walks briskly along the route. The Valentine Neighborhood is his oyster and he knows it and many neighbors know him and stop to greet him. Also, he doesn't really chase squirrels so much as make a run at them for the sheer joy of running. Even though he is 11 and his face is increasingly white, he often loves to run for the sheer joy of running. Some days, when it is sunny and nice, we go up to a coffee shop and share a Latte and a delicious Poptart.
