Sheila and the Mummy and Plastic Pollution

I heard from Sheila about two weeks ago when the top of the glass bottle of Scotch broke off and the sink drained twice when it was properly closed. Then, earlier today, I read about how a 2500-year-old mummy was found in a sarcophagus that had been in storage somewhere for 150 years. Through current technology, "experts" can tell the person was over 30 and had some degenerative changes to bone. The feet and ankle bones were almost completely intact and wrapped in mummy cloth. One of the researchers is hoping that a toenail or toenails will still be available and viable for more accurate carbon dating. It got me to thinking about what my 2500-year-old mummy might tell researchers someday. But, the way we're going with all this plastic pollution, the life will be choked out of this planet long before another 2500 years go by. Maybe, Sheila was trying to tell me Jon isn't feeling well. I can feel weird, murky energy coming from him and her sense of urgent fear and ...
No Walks with Yoshi Today

Little black Chihuahuas with greying faces don't like rain, cold or snow. Myself, I love walks in the rain but I do not weigh 10 lbs and have a tiny body covered by thin, coarse hair. Today, even though I have the day off and love taking Yoshi for walks, we will not be lingering outside. It is raining and chilly. Regardless of the season, I like to have a window open even just a little in my bedroom. I can hear all the cars on Southwest Trafficway driving by too fast on the rainy roads. A police car just raced by with it's siren on so I suppose someone drove recklessly on wet roads and there was a crash.
Another Walk with Yoshi

I took Yoshi for a nice walk earlier. It is relatively nice out as long as the wind isn't blowing and you're not on the shady side of the street. Today, I did not see any Pileated Woodpeckers but I saw a lot of male Robins. Yoshi wasn't interested in them today. Some days, he will decide to race off after one. He did that recently. I didn't have a very tight grip on his leash when, all of a sudden, he darted after a Robin and he took off with his leash trailing after him. This could be a problem in this neighborhood because cars drive too fast through it and I wouldn't want him to run into the road after a bird or, his other favorite quarry, a squirrel. I didn't see Jon today either but I did see a younger guy in a blue polo shirt walking a black Pomeranian. I've been thinking a lot lately on my walks with Yoshi and otherwise about what my younger self would say to me if she could see me (her) now. It fills me with almost overwhelming sadness....
Early March Dog Walks with Yoshi

I never wanted a dog. I didn't want a high maintenance pet that has to be taken out for walks 3 times a day and can't be left alone for long periods. Then, I got an accidental dog. I don't even know why I said I would take him. I do cats. Now, however, I don't know what I would do without this happy little black dog who loves his walks. Recently, it was cold for several days in a row which isn't that unusual around here in the Winter. Yoshi only weighs 10 lbs. He has minimal body fat and a short fur coat. Bathroom breaks are, of necessity, quick when it is cold outside. I feel bad when he can't get out for walks. Then again, maybe, I'm the one who misses the walks. It is getting nice outside periodically and I can take Yoshi on longer walks. He smells everything. I like to take my time and be able to let him do that. Simple pleasures are underrated for dogs and people. I have come to enjoy our walks too. He is such a funny little dog...
